This agreement

These terms are between you and Cristian Spagnuolo, an individual sole trader operating as PXLmentor. Using this site, buying anything on it, or installing one of the tools means you accept them. If you do not, please do not use the site.

I may update these terms. The date at the top tells you when they last changed, and material changes will be flagged rather than slipped in. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the new version.

What is on offer

Three different things, with different rules:

  • Tools. Production software from PXLsuite, for Autodesk Maya and Foundry Nuke. Some are free, some may be paid.
  • Courses. Self-paced video training, delivered on courses.pxlmentor.com.
  • Mentorship. One-to-one and group sessions, delivered live.

Tool licence

When you obtain a tool, whether free or paid, you get a non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use it. That licence is per person, not per machine. You may install it on the machines you personally work on, which in practice means a workstation and a laptop, and you may use it on commercial work, including client projects and studio productions.

The licence is yours. It is not the studio’s, and it does not travel to a colleague when you send them the folder. If a team wants to use a tool, each person needs their own licence.

What you may not do

  • Resell, sublicense, rent or redistribute the tools, in original or modified form.
  • Share a paid tool, a licence key or course access with anyone else.
  • Publish the source, or a derivative of it, as your own work.
  • Strip out attribution, licence checks or version information.
  • Re-upload course videos, or share your account credentials.

Modifying a tool for your own use inside your own pipeline is fine, and frankly expected. The line is distribution.

Free tools

Free tools are provided as they are, with no support commitment and no guarantee of future updates. They are given away because they were useful to me and may be useful to you, not as a product with obligations attached. A free tool may be changed, superseded or withdrawn at any time.

Courses

Buying a course gives you access to its lessons for your personal learning, for as long as the course remains available on the platform. Access is for one person. Course content, including video, project files and written material, may not be redistributed or used to teach others commercially.

Courses are training. They are not a guarantee of a job, a skill level or any particular outcome.

Mentorship

Mentorship is booked and delivered live. Sessions can be rescheduled with reasonable notice, and I will do the same for you if something on my side moves. Repeated no-shows without notice may end an engagement without refund of the sessions missed.

Mentorship is guidance and feedback drawn from experience. It is not a promise of employment, a referral, or a specific career result, and nothing said in a session should be taken as legal, financial or immigration advice.

Payment and tax

Prices are shown in the currency indicated at checkout. Payment is handled by the payment provider, not by me, and their terms apply to the transaction itself.

Where the provider acts as merchant of record, they are the seller for tax purposes and any applicable sales tax or VAT is calculated, collected and remitted by them based on your country. Your receipt comes from them.

Refunds

Refunds have their own page, because they deserve a clear answer rather than a clause buried here. Read the Refund Policy, which forms part of these terms.

Intellectual property

Everything on this site, the tools, the course material, the writing, the images and the PXLmentor and PXLsuite names, remains my property. Buying a licence or a course buys you the right to use something, not to own it.

The work you produce with the tools is entirely yours. I claim nothing over your renders, your shots or your projects, and I do not require credit.

Host applications

The tools run inside Autodesk Maya and Foundry Nuke. I am not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Autodesk or Foundry, and those names and trademarks belong to their respective owners and are used here only to say what the tools work with.

You need your own valid licence for the host application. A tool may stop working when a host application updates, and while I will usually fix that, I cannot promise it or promise a timeframe.

Warranty and liability

The tools and content are provided as they are, without warranty of any kind, express or implied. I do not warrant that a tool will be free of defects, or that it will suit your particular pipeline.

Back up your work. These tools modify scenes and write files. Test on something you can afford to lose before running anything on production work, in the way you would with any script from outside your facility.

To the fullest extent the law allows, I am not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including lost work, lost time, lost data or lost profit. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid me for the thing that caused the problem.

Nothing here removes consumer rights you hold under the law of your own country, which stand regardless of what this page says.

Termination

You can stop using the tools and the site at any time. I may end your licence or account if these terms are broken in a serious way, in particular by redistributing paid work. If I do that because of something you did, no refund is due.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Québec and the applicable laws of Canada, and the courts there have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer elsewhere, this does not deprive you of the protection of mandatory consumer law in your own country of residence.
