01 — The Project

What Is

THRESHOLD

Thresholds is a high-end episodic television series, built on a hybrid cinematic workflow. A deliberate, technically rigorous production built to validate a next-generation pipeline and demonstrate that a small, focused remote team can deliver work that stands alongside anything produced at major studio scale. The first deliverable is a teaser trailer — the proof of concept for the series.

This is not an experiment in the hobbyist sense of the word. Every decision, creative, technical, and strategic, is made with production discipline and a clear outcome in mind.

The pipeline integrates the best available tools across real-time, offline, AI-assisted, and traditional workflows. Not because they are new, but because they are the right tools for each stage of production. AI is part of that stack. It is used with the same intentionality as every other tool: specific, controlled, and in service of the final image. Not as a shortcut. Not as a marketing angle. As a genuine force multiplier in the hands of people who know exactly what they are doing with it.

We are looking for collaborators that are curious, enthusiastic and willing to experiment with and challenge the "traditional" way of approaching workflows. We encourage you to apply even if you aren't sure if you're a perfect fit — our most important requirement is an open mind.

03 — The Deal
What You Get & What We Expect For now, there is no available budget and all contributions are voluntary. However, the project is actively seeking funding in order to grow and develop.

This is a passion project for people who are curious about what comes next in our industry and how they can cultivate an edge that puts them at the forefront of newly available tech. This is a perfect project for someone who is between roles and wants to add an impressive element to their portfolio.

Threshold offers hands-on access to sponsor technology that most artists only read about, the ability to contribute in a meaningful way to the workflow itself and the chance to work alongside a team with two decades of credited experience at the world's top VFX studios. In addition to this, a behind the scenes breakdown featuring the whole team will be created, shared and marketed across all sponsors' social media and marketing platforms ensuring large scale visibility.
What You Get
Screen credit on a high-end production
Your name on a technically rigorous, pipeline-validated cinematic piece. Not a student film. A proper production credit.

What We Expect
Professionalism.
Clear communication.
Willingness to learn sponsor tools.
A commitment to quality.
Respect for the pipeline.
04 — The Team

You would be joining a team that has spent over two decades at the top of the industry, credits across MPC, DNEG, Framestore, Luma Pictures, Mill Film, and productions spanning Marvel, Disney, Star Wars, and Emmy-winning television. Not as crew members finding their footing. As supervisors, department heads, and creative leads who have solved the hardest problems in production, at scale, under real pressure.

That experience is now being channelled into something different. Something leaner, more deliberate, and more ambitious than anything traditional studio infrastructure would allow.

This is a rare kind of project that genuinely moves the industry forward. We'd love to find like-minded people to help elevate what we are able to create and hopefully eventually offer as a service — join us on the ground floor!

Open Roles

All roles are voluntary participation and fully remote. Apply even if you don't seem to be a perfect fit — our most important requirement is an open mind.

Open Roles Below

You will be responsible for bringing assets, characters, and environments together inside Unreal Engine to create the final cinematic output. This is the most critical role in the pipeline. You will work closely with both Art Director and CG Supervisor in order to produce environments and create shots.

What You Need
  • Unreal Engine experience — environment assembly, material setup, lighting, sequencer
  • Comfortable with camera placement and cinematic framing
  • Able to set up and output AOV passes (for use in ComfyUI and Nuke)
  • Maya and Substance Painter knowledge for asset adjustments
  • Willing to actively use Dash Sponsor Requirement
  • If you think you're the right person — apply here

You will model and texture the two main characters, fully costumed with no exposed face or hair. You will also learn and use Character Creator 5 for rigging handoff. You will work closely with Art Director and CG Supe, expect to collaborate with Animation to ensure a successful handoff.

What You Need
  • Strong character modeling experience (Maya preferable)
  • Proficient in Substance Painter for costume / armor texturing
  • Willingness to learn Character Creator 5 and iClone 8 Sponsor Requirement
  • Demonstrated eye for silhouette, proportion, and costume design
  • Comfortable with Marvelous Designer Big Plus
  • If you think you're the right person — apply here

Animation on this production lives entirely inside iClone 8. We use the mocap library as the primary source and iClone's video-to-mocap system as a secondary tool. You will work closely with the Director to perfect the character performances, while collaborating closely with CG supervision to thoroughly integrate and elevate the animation pipeline.

What You Need
  • Willingness to work entirely within iClone 8 Sponsor Requirement
  • Interest in mocap-driven animation and video-based performance capture
  • Strong sense of timing, weight, and realistic character performance
  • Unreal Engine knowledge Strong Plus
  • If you think you're the right person — apply here

You will be responsible for magical FX, smoke, dust, atmospheric effects, and fluid simulations integrated directly into the Unreal Engine pipeline. This role sits at the intersection of traditional simulation and real-time delivery — the goal is always production-quality results that work inside the engine, not just in isolation.

What You Need
  • Proficiency in EmberGen and LiquiGen for real-time smoke, dust, atmospheric, and fluid simulations
  • A strong sense of artistry — magical and atmospheric FX require as much creative instinct as technical execution
  • Houdini experience for FX requiring offline simulation and VDB generation Big Plus
  • Comfortable using Zibra to optimize and compress VDB caches for real-time use in Unreal Big Plus
  • Niagara system knowledge for integrating and driving FX directly inside Unreal Engine Big Plus

EmberGen and LiquiGen are current sponsor discussions — licenses may be provided as part of the project.

If you think you're the right person — apply here

You will composite multi-pass renders from Unreal, work with AOV layers, and integrate AI-enhanced passes from ComfyUI into the final output. Your final sign off will be with the Art Director and Director, working closely with the CG Supervisor to ensure clean functionality.

What You Need
  • Solid Nuke experience — multi-pass compositing
  • Comfortable working with non-traditional render passes from a real-time engine
  • Openness to integrating ComfyUI-enhanced passes into the composite
  • ACES color pipeline awareness
  • If you think you're the right person — apply here

Final color grade. The look is cinematic, controlled, motivated. ACES compliant throughout.

What You Need

There is no current need for a Pipeline TD but if you have experience with ComfyUI and think that you could elevate this project, we'd like to hear from you.
